When it comes to portable jump starters there has been one decisive winner for a few years now. Clore’s newest model, named the JNC660, has captivated the attention of everyone who is looking for a new jump starter. It packs a ton of peak amps, great cold cranking amps, and most importantly – can hold its charge for a far longer period of time compared to other models in this price point. Speaking of prices, it is a little steep here but you pretty much get what you paid for since there are quality materials everywhere, the cables are thick and super durable, and there are extra features such as a 12V outlet which can be used to charge phones or other devices.
Our Verdict: If you are serious about your emergency preparation, then having a model like the JNC660 in your trunk is a must. Even though it is expensive it certainly will serve as an insurance policy when things go downhill. We recommend this jump starter to anyone who wants a reliable back-up plan in their car.
Features That Make It Stand Out
Clore’s latest jump starter is sure to turn some heads. Aside from its durable construction and lightweight design, it comes loaded with some neat features any car or truck enthusiast can appreciate.
For the price, we were really impressed with this jump starter’s performance and overall quality. It comes loaded with some great features and has a reputation for working well in any type of weather condition, which is a huge selling point if you live in a part of the country that experiences harsh winters.
Clore gives you many reasons to buy their latest jump starter, the Jump-N-Carry, including raw power you can count on, a durable design, and some useful extras.
One of the biggest selling points of this model is its 1700 peak amps and the rigid construction combined with premium materials. Let’s touch on these features individually now.
Everything in the construction of the JNC660 is built in order to handle large electric current bursts. There are two thick, AWG cables which feel massive compared to other thin and fragile ones. The housing of the portable battery is a rubber and plastic mix which helps with weight and durability. It is entirely sealed and therefore waterproof. This is important for cases when you need to jump start your car in the rain or in wet climates in which some batteries have trouble working. There is a DC voltmeter which shows you how much power you got left. It gets activated when pressing the button right below it.
Right next to it is the charging port which has a few interesting features to it. What’s unique about this jump starter is that it has an automatic charger. This means that it will regulate the current flowing in when you plug it into an outlet. This helps with the battery’s health over time. It also keeps it at an always-ready state to be used.
Another unique feature involving the battery is that it is a pack of performance enhanced replaceable batteries which are very power dense and have great peak amp outbursts. Clore also claims that they have twice the life of a normal jump starter battery.
In terms of dimensions this jump starter isn’t the smallest one but isn’t particularly big either. It fits perfectly even in smaller trunks and weighs 18 pounds which is a few pounds below the industry average. What makes things easier here is the handle on top of the unit which helps with distributing the weight nicely.
Unlike the DBPower Auto battery Booster, this thing packs the whopping 1700 peak amps which in fact exceeds almost any other model as well. This makes the Jump-N-Carry one of the top few jump starters capable of such discharges. Now, it cannot sustain this over and over again, like the DBPower model (20+ times) but it will sure start up bigger and more powerful engines far easier.
Cold Cranking Amps
For those of you interested in the CCA numbers, they are 425 here. This isn’t ideal for people living in colder environments but it still is a lot when you take into the account the high peak amps. Overall, the feeling that this jump starter creates is that it is designed to deliver vast amounts of power in a short time and therefore is suitable for larger engines and even marine use.

The cables on the Jump-N-Carry, apart from being durable, are also lengthy. Measuring 46 inches they are good for common use but if you want to be in your car while jump starting (for example when you are alone), you might find it difficult to start up the car while performing the jump start.
One thing that is important to note is that there is no power switch here so you must keep your cables separate from each other all the time. Otherwise you might create a safety hazard when they touch. Still the cables are spark resistant as well as their clamps therefore you shouldn’t worry but it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Another thing that is missing here is the reverse-polarity detection and/or warning system. This should warn you when you attach a clamp at the wrong side of the car’s battery and prevent short circuits so always make sure you are connecting the cables properly.
At the front of the model there is a DC outlet which helps with charging your devices when out camping, for example.
Lastly, there is a one year warranty. We kind of wished it was more, as other manufacturers offer up to five years, but judging by the way everything is built here, longevity shouldn’t be a concern of yours.
What You’ll Love About this Jump Starter
This jump starter is packing some serious power. If you can’t tell by now, we were really impressed with its performance and overall quality. This model can easily jump any size of car, SUV, or truck. However, it’s not recommended for use on fleet diesel engines.
Unlike other models in this price range that are equipped with a lithium-ion battery, this model operates with a AGM lead acid battery. Those who are familiar with this type of battery know that it won’t suffer any performance issues in intense cold or hot weather like a lithium-ion battery will. If you live in a colder or hotter than average climate, this alone will be a huge incentive to buy. Marketed as perfect for home car use, we felt that this jump starter was actually pro quality. This is a model you can really rely on when you’re traveling or camping out. Unlike competing models, you won’t have to worry about this jump starter failing you in freezing conditions.
The DC port, which is also called the cigarette lighter port, is a nice extra and one that you can use to plug in a phone charger or other compatible sensitive electronic devices.
The battery charge indicator light is another important extra feature that users will love. With just a push of a button you can check out the jump starter’s battery level so you know when it’s time to plug it in for a charge. This way, you won’t be caught with a dead jump starter when you need it the most. Unfortunately, not many jump starters have this feature, so normally you would have no way to determine how much juice a jump starter has left. This is a great safety feature to have and one that ensures that this model is always powered up and ready to go.
Now that we’ve learned more about what you can expect in terms of performance, let’s check out the most important pros and cons of this model:
